By emphasizing rigorous engineering, technical expertise, and effective management, MIT Motorsports empowers students to become engineering leaders.

Our team of around 40 undergrads design, manufacture, and compete with a formula-style electric racecar every year. Almost all of our car—software, electrical system, aero, and mechanical systems— is designed and built by undergraduates.

If you're looking for a place to hone your engineering skills by working on real systems, MIT Motorsports is the place for you. No prior experience required — we'll show you the ropes! If you’re interested email fsae@mit.edu.

Most recently, we placed 16th in Design, 14th in Acceleration, and 15th in Autocross in the 2024 FSAE EV Competition in Michigan. At the 2024 Formula Hybrid competition in Loudon, New Hampshire, we finished first in design, first in scrutineering [mandatory technical, safety, and administrative checks], second in acceleration, third in the racing challenge, fourth in project management, and fifth overall.
